I am Pro-Human

I have strong opinions. I'm queer, anti-capitalist, anti-AI, anti-fascist, anti-ICE, and socialist. Ugh, so many anti's... let's turn that frown upside-down: I'm Pro-Human. Yeah, I like that. These are some semi-random thoughts that are just constantly rattling through my head, and I figured on this, January 30, 2026, the Anti-ICE National Shutdown/General Strike, I'd put them to paper html text... markdown? Sure.

A teeny intro to me, Michael Lasch (TetroniMike)

I am a successful indie game developer. Other than health insurance*, 90% of my income (which paid my mortgage, bought my car, and clothed and fed me) over the last 7 (!!) years came directly from sales of our video game Hypnospace Outlaw.

*long story, ask me about it.

I'm not the smartest guy in the room, but I feel like I know enough about the below to have informed opinions. I also could be wrong about certain things, or be leaving out important context - I'm not a professional writer or researcher, etc, and I invite discussion if well informed with trusted, cited, sources.

Capitalism

The "number must always go up" mentality of capitalism contributes directly to disease, death, poverty, hunger, and depression. Capitalism is inhumane. It's that simple. If you care at all about humans - your friends, your family, your community, and the world at large - you should probably be anti-capitalist, or at BARE MINIMUM strongly advocate and push HARD for massive structural reform, significant low-level changes, and limitations and regulations to how businesses are allowed to legally to conduct their operations in our country. Federal minimum wage should be tripled, taxes on the wealthy quadrupled, and taxes on low-income individuals reduced - and if you're making below the equivalent of minimum-wage with full-time hours, eliminated.

Environmentalism

The natural environment MUST be given significant inalienable rights such that a government cannot ignore the impact we have on the environment simply because there's a new administration in charge. Without clean water and air, without a reliable, stable climate, we die. Period.

Humanism? Sure.

The above also goes for humanity: healthcare, housing, and basic safety and security must be guaranteed and never able to be stripped away due to the whims of a person/people with too much power. When these guarantees are implemented at a federal level, any person trying to change this should be stripped of their power and replaced immediately.

Government

The two-party system must be eliminated. Ranked Choice Voting would be an excellent start. Also, reasonable term limits MUST be implemented for all positions of power, and we should NEVER pay ANYONE in a position of power a DIME after they have left that position. People in positions of power should be paid the federal minimum wage. Remove the incentives to becoming powerful, and only the people who ACTUALLY CARE will want to run for office.

AI

AI is a scourge on humanity and is actively harmful to you and your loved ones and generations to come. If you are considering using AI, especially generative AI, and triple-especially gen-AI provided by one of the big name tech companies, change your fucking mind.

Utilizing AI is willingly ignoring all of a litany of problematic effects of the technology. A short, incomplete, list of what AI contributes to:

Every time you use AI, your usage statistics are added to a database which informs some the worst people in recent history to continue funneling money to AI companies to support all of the above. E.g. if you use AI, you are directly throwing your support behind everything I just mentioned.

AI, but from the perspective of a video game developer that doesn't suck

If you are a video game developer, writer, or any kind of producer of media, even ignoring all of the reasons I mentioned in the previous section, if you don't care enough to make your [whatever creative thing you're working on] yourself, why should I care to consume it? The answer is: I don't. The same goes for the VAST majority of media consumers out there. There's a reason we call it slop. If you use AI, people will not care about your thing, people will not consume or use your thing, and people will look down on you for using AI. Also I will laugh at you and your misfortune that you've brought on by your own choices.

I am pro-human. Capitalism, AI, the people in power of the US government, and the anti-intellectual movement are all anti-human. Full stop. Fuck that.
